2 Bedroom House in Urbana
Our 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom quaint craftsman home is located in downtown Urbana. The home has been restored to the era of when Roger Ebert lived there — according to details in chapter 1 of his autobiography, “Life Itself”. We're a 12-minute drive to downtown Champaign + 5 minute drive to the U of I campus.
We're happy to host families, too!
Find a Mid Century Modern style complete with books written by Ebert, his school yearbooks from Urbana High; + more Illini and Urbana-centric nostalgia.
The space:
If you are traveling with children or infants — we have toys; a Pack 'N Play; a high chair; utensils; and other necessities for the littles when on the road. Just please let us know in advance + we can bring over everything! (Pack 'N Play is already stored at our house.)
The home has all original hardwood flooring; a wood-burning fireplace; quaint backyard; washer + dryer; a utensil + cooking stocked kitchen; popcorn machine; 1 bathroom; a long driveway for off-street parking and parking available directly on the street on the side of the house; a front patio; and we are kid-friendly.
The house is all on one floor — there are only 4 steps up to the front door.
Home: The house is situated directly off Vine Street in Urbana. But without much street noise. We are set up with fast WiFi and a television ready for streaming videos + music. You can use our Netflix account to find some of Roger Ebert's favorite films. The photos are pretty much in the order in which our house flows — so, please take a look.
Bedroom #1: Two Twin sized beds with brand new Leesa mattresses that can be pushed together to make 1 King sized bed with an additional foam mattress top pad that we have stored in the closet.
Bedroom #2: One brand new, Queen sized Serta Beautyrest mattress on a metal frame bed with nightstands and lamps.
Bathroom: Deep, cast iron bathtub — we also provide lavender body wash, and a variety of shampoos and conditioners. Shower with a new Moen rain spray shower head and additional handheld shower sprayer; help yourself to our medicine cabinet fully stocked with essentials you might need during your stay (i.e. toothpaste, cotton balls, full First Aid kit, and ear swabs); sink; and toilet.
Kitchen: Updated Kohler sink + faucet; original kitchen cabinetry from when Roger Ebert lived there; popcorn machine; pots + pans; Pyrex; cooking utensils; brand new Hotpoint gas oven; + vintage General Electric fridge from the 1950s.
Living room: 65" Vizio TV ready to go with Netflix; Illini nostalgia vintage books that Roger Ebert loved + wrote; Champaign-Urbana centric reading material; and a brand new Queen sized sleeper sofa from West Elm.
Guest access:
If you book the house, the entire place is yours to use. The basement is raw and unfinished — but you can use the washer + dryer if you'd like.
Our garage will not be accessible. We have a long driveway with video surveillance where you can park your car. There is easily room for 2 cars in the drive. Street parking is also available.
