Shangri-la is first described by author James Hilton as a mystical, harmonious valley, a remote idyllic hideaway. For this reason we named our yurt the "Shangri-la Caravan." It is a hand painted, 20 foot traditional mongolian structure with perfect views of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range. Enjoy an off grid, glamping retreat located in Moffat. It is minutes from Valley View and Joyful Journey, and 45 from the great Sand Dunes national park. In proximity to many other local attractions.

THE SPACE:
It goes without saying that San Luis valley is a very special and unique place. Enjoy our beautiful, traditional off grid Mongolian yurt. It is hand painted and made from wool, horse hair and durable canvas. The panoramic 360 views off the San Juan and Sangre de Christo mountain ranges are breathtaking.

Stay here as a meditative retreat- as you soak in the healing waters of the nearby hot springs or as way to experience all of the exciting things to do and the places to see in the valley.

We have a minimal, but comfortable set up. One queen bed, one full bed. Feel free to use living space in the RV as well. This is a bit more like "glamping". The space is heated by a portable Mr. Buddy heater. It keeps the space very warm and cozy. Linens and towels are provided. Couch and table. Outdoor seating.

Electricity but NO WATER at this time. We will provide drinking water ( our drinking water is from our artisan well, mineral waters from a pristine aquifer) And water for flushing the toilet. There are hot showers at Joyful Journey a five to ten minute drive away .

The toilet is in the adjacent Rv. We will provide a bucket to flush with - (the RV is not weatherized therefore NO running water is possible at this time)

We provide trash and cleaning service.

Pets are allowed by a 20$ per pet/cleaning fee.

Something to note - the grocery stores and restaurants in the area keep odd open hours so you might want to call beforehand and you may want to bring your own snacks. 😊

Honestly this was the prettiest place I have ever laid my head .. looking up at the colors and lights was so calming .. we spent a while in this space and enjoyed every minute . We will be back . We had a quick visit to local hot springs which was lovely too 💕 thanks for everything

Olivia's Yurt was absolutely magical. While we originally planned to just stay one night (passing through on a road trip), we ended up staying for two and truly enjoying all that the area has to offer. There are several hot springs in the immediate vicinity, which was an unexpected joy for us after a long day touring in the backcountry. As the photos reflect, there are also incredible panoramic views of the mountains immediately when you leave the yurt. The area is quite rural but has a special character and truly drew us in. Thank you Olivia for your hospitality and a wonderful stay!

Beautiful yurt that was a pure work of art. Private, super cozy and comfortable. They allow dogs, and having a toilet in the RV out back was nice. Oh and the stars out there are breathtaking at nite!

wow, when you open the door and enjoy the Sangre de Cristo range as your front porch it is breathtaking. Comfy chairs facing east make being outside easy (if the wind is not kicking up). Home worked great and we will be back when we go to visit the nearby hot springs called Joyful Journey.
